At 4 weeks old Ruby was taken seriously ill. Originally our Doctor told me she had a chest infection and prescribed her antibiotics! Within 24 hours I knew this was not the case. Ruby very quickly got worse - she became very ill. Ruby has struggled with her breathing continuosly and has now been diagnosed with having Bronchiolitus 5 times, constant stays and visits to hospital are a normal part of our life now!Ruby has to take steroids every day now,due to the damage caused by this awfull virus.

What a fantastic idea to raise the awareness of this awful illness. My daughter was just 8 weeks old when she was admitted with RSV, She was very poorly with it due to an underlying heart condition. After a 2 week hospital stay and much time spent on HDU she was let home. It was an incredibly frightening time for us and the picture of your little boy on the front page bring back many memories. I really hope that this website and your leaflet promotes awareness of the condition.

Our baby boy was admitted to hospital with bronchilitis. We thought it was a bad cold and only took him to the out of hours surgery because he would not take any milk. He stayed in hospital for two days where the team were fantastic. He was very distressed with the condition and the cough is still lingering with him after nearly 4 weeks. Our usually very smiley boy did not smile for almost a week as he was very ill. We had no idea about bronchilitis and how serious it is.

Congratulations on raising awareness of this issue. We almost lost our son at 9 days old when he contracted RSV. We were fortunate that a sequence of events saved our son's life: a switched on health visitor who got us to the GP immediately having spotted the symptoms, and an efficient GP who got us into the hospital children's ward within an hour. Only then did he stop breathing and spent 2 weeks in the ITU. Had he not been in the hospital he would have died. Others may not be us fortunate.
